@falcoharlequin: A bit late on this one, but this is what Ive been able to decipher from various live pics and videos. So this is obviously only his more recent touring setup.
w/ a MusicMan style humbucker (possibly Seymour Duncan?)
DR Strings Black Beauties (gauges .110/.090/.070/.050 back in the 90s)
BOSS TU-2 tuner
BOSS DS-1 distortion
BOSS DD-3 digital delay
BOSS CH-1 Super Chorus
Peavey Tour Series Bass head (700W or 450W?), 2
He currently endorses both the Peavey TVX 410 EX and the TVX 115 EX cabs (both 8 ohms) though Ive seen him with 8x10s and Peaveys Tour 410s.
And I found this on Type O Negatives forum a while ago. So take it as a post from a post allegedly from Petes bass tech....
from a site that had a post from peters bass tech (circa 2000):
"Bass, he uses a Fernandes Kustom bass which is shaped like a Rickenbacker with an alder body (I think). It has an FGI humbucker, 24 fret ebony fretboard, and 34" scale. The bass also has a prototype sustainer unit which is not available to the general public. He uses roundwound Dean Markley strings. Amps: He uses a Peavey max preamp and discontinued Peavey Power amps. Cabs: He uses 6 Peavy 2x10+1x18 cabs with Kustom JBL speakers. Effects: He uses Boss distortion, chorus, tremolo, and delay. He also uses a graphic EQ to shape his distortion. Reproducing the tone: If you want to reproduce his tone (without spending tens of thousands of dollars), I recommend a Peavey Kilobass (altered for high gain) and a generic 8x10 cab. For the bass you should look for an axe with good top end (I use a Tobias) to help with the distortion. The graphic EQ is VERY important if you want to get his crunchy tone. Also, a sonic maximizer will help with the bottom end...this rig will get you close to his tone, but its near-impossible to replicate because he has added so many Kustom features to his gear."
I still havent been able to figure out the EQ curve on his bass heads. It seems people would rather take a pic of Peter than of that rack to his right! Nor have I the money to buy all his gear and get it 100% accurate. But I hope this helps a bit.
